Cookies and local storage
Last updated:
This page lists what the ASVAB Camp website stores in your browser and why. For everything else about your information, see the privacy policy.
On this page
Our own storage (no cookies)
Our own code sets no cookies. It keeps a few settings in your browser's local storage so the site remembers your choices. Nothing in it is sent to us.
| Name | What it remembers | How long |
|---|---|---|
asvab_language | The language you chose for translations | Until you change it or clear site data |
asvab_theme | Day or night mode | Until you change it or clear site data |
asvab_fc_* | Flashcards you marked "got it", one entry per deck | Until you reset the marks or clear site data |
asvab_recent | The last three lessons, flashcard decks or practice tests you opened, for "Continue where you left off" on the home page | Until you clear it with the × button or clear site data |
asvab_seen | Which lessons you have opened, to tick them off and show your progress on each subtest page | Until you clear site data |
asvab_scores | Your last score on each practice test, shown on the practice tests page | Until you clear site data |
asvab_app_bar_closed | That you closed the app banner on your phone | The banner comes back after 14 days |
While a page is open, translated text is also kept in session storage (cleared when you close the tab) so it does not have to be translated twice.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)
The website uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets these first-party cookies:
| Name | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Tells visits from the same browser apart, so visitors are not counted twice | Up to 2 years |
_ga_* | Keeps the state of the current visit (session) | Up to 2 years |
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland these cookies are set only after you allow them; until then Google Analytics works without cookies. Learn more in Google Analytics cookie usage.
Advertising cookies
When the website shows ads, Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies or use similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and prevent fraud, and, where you allow it, to personalise them. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland these are used only after you give consent in the consent message. Learn more in Google's advertising policy.
How to control them
You can delete or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings; the site still works, it just forgets your choices. You can change ad consent from the consent message link at the bottom of the page and turn off personalised ads in My Ad Center. Google Analytics can be blocked on every site with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
In the app
The Android app does not use browser cookies. Its settings and study progress are stored in the app's own storage on your phone; ads in the app use your device's advertising ID as explained in the privacy policy.
